Sheet Music for 'Landscapes'

 4 February 2013

Though I've always had a lot of trouble transferring musical timing to paper, I figured it was time to give it a go when I got an email request for sheet music to 'Landscapes' last week.

It turned out to be a fun challenge, so I thought I'd share the result. Please let me know how it goes if you decide to try it out!

StageIt Online Show Coming Up

14 January 2013

G&TH debut StageIt show is on for Sunday, January 27 at 5pm PST!  Join me in my home studio for a live 30 minute broadcast of new songs and uncensored hijinks, by purchasing tickets here and streaming the whole she-bang from home.

Since I haven't been able to tour extensively in support of my most recent album, I am looking forward to being in touch with you all in this way. During the show you'll have a chance to tip for a signed copy of the new album and illustrated lyrics to your favorite song. To request older songs, please email me ahead of time at gregoryandthehawk@gmail.com and I will do my best to prepare.

Big thanks to Jacob for helping me set up the show and featuring my spot on StageIt.com alongside Meiko and Jenny Owen Youngs!

See you on the 27th ~M

New Music on Bandcamp

The Stone EP is a new digital 6 song collection made at home in Portland, Oregon. Stream and download the EP here.

The recordings were made as a study of production techniques to build on the work done at home for last Spring's album 'Come, Now.' Focus for the Stone EP was on manipulation of synth sounds and in-the-box adjustments of reverb, distortion, and compression. 'I'd Rather Be Traveling,' and 'Wait Until I Let Go' are recorded improvisations. That is, make up some musical progression and then improvise every take thereafter, keeping the results besides minor snips or layering. A couple of the songs - 'Sediment,' and 'Take Me Away' are synth-y remakes of songs that didn't make it onto 'Come, Now.' Finally, 'Kids in America,' and 'Blue Ribbon Waltz' are made just for Stone.

This EP will be available only on Bandcamp in digital format. Please help spread the word by visiting the album page on Bandcamp and clicking the Share/Embed link beneath the cover art. Or make your friends a mix!

Thanks for all your support ! GATH
